MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK-

1) THE FOUR SEASONS– I loved this movie when I saw it years ago and loved it again today. On Netflix

2) JANE AUSTEN WRECKED MY LIFE– 2025. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Agathe, hopelessly clumsy yet charming and full of contradictions, finds herself in desperate singlehood. Her dream is to experience love akin to a Jane Austen novel and her ultimate aspiration is to become a writer.”

5/21/25- Very good reviews and I liked it very much. TRDB

3) THE LAST RODEO–  Hollywood but I liked it anyway.

NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS AND/ OR TV-

1) THE NEW BOY– 2025. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “The New Boy takes place in 1940s Australia at a remote monastery with a mission for Aboriginal children run by a renegade nun, Sister Eileen (Cate Blanchett).

5/22/25- Reviews are fair but it sounds interesting to me. TRDB

2) DESERT OF NAMIBIA–  2025. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “DESERT OF NAMIBIA follows mercurial 21-year-old Kana (Yuumi Kawai), a hair-removal technician at a salon in Tokyo, who bristles against the beauty expectations placed on women her age.”

5/24/25- Excellent reviews. TRDB

3) THE DAMNED–  2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Eva (Odessa Young), a 19th-century widow is tasked with making an impossible choice when, in the middle of an especially cruel winter, a ship sinks off the coast of her isolated fishing post. Eva and her crew must choose to either rescue the shipwrecked or survive the winter with their last remaining food.”

5/24/25- Excellent reviews by the critics and weak ones from audiences. TRDB

5) THE LAST RODEO– 2025. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “To save his grandson, a retired rodeo star enters a high-stakes bull-riding competition. Along the way, he confronts his past, discovers faith, and proves that true courage lies in family.”

5/23/25- Fair reviews but I’d give it a try. TRDB

6) FRIENDSHIP– 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Suburban dad Craig falls hard for his charismatic new neighbor, as Craig’s attempts to make an adult male friend threaten to ruin both of their lives.”
