1) SAINT JUDY– 2019. Synopsis by Netflix. “This well-crafted biopic follows immigration lawyer Judy Wood as she takes up the case of an Afghani woman persecuted by the Taliban for starting a school for girls. In the process, Wood leads a fight that will change U.S. asylum laws for women.”
3/1/19- Generally good reviews and I liked it. I knew nothing about this brave woman before seeing the movie. TRDB.
2) THE SUBSTANCE– 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? You, only better in every way. You should try this new product, it’s called The Substance. IT CHANGED MY LIFE. With The Substance, you can generate another you: younger and more beautiful.”
9/19/24- Very good reviews but I hated this blood-soaked movie and turned it off. TRDB.
1) THE ROOM NEXT DOOR- 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life.”
1/8/25- Good reviews for this new movie by Pedro Almodovar. TRDB.
2) THE LAST SHOWGIRL– 2025. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “The Last Showgirl, a poignant film of resilience, rhinestones and feathers, stars Pamela Anderson as Shelley, a glamorous showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run.”
