MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK-
1)
THE OLD OAK– 2023- Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “The Old Oak is the last pub standing in a once thriving mining village in northern England, a gathering space for a community that has fallen on hard times. There is growing anger, resentment, and a lack of hope among the residents, but the pub and its proprietor TJ are a fond presence to their customers. When a group of Syrian refugees move into the floundering village, a decisive rift fueled by prejudices develops between the community and its newest inhabitants.”
4/11/24- Fair reviews for this drama. TRDB.
6/9/24- I liked this British drama very much. TRDB.
2) THE COLOR OF PAR ADISE– 1999. A beautiful story about a blind boy in Iran and his family. TRDB. On Fandango
3) HIT MAN– 2024. A deceptively dark thriller that’s also loaded with laughs, Hit Man is an outstanding showcase for leading man Glen Powell — and one of the most purely entertaining films of Richard Linklater’s career. TRDB.
6//13/24– 2024. I enjoyed this very clever movie but I didn’t laugh a whole lot. TRDB.
