2) KISS ME KOSHER– On Prime
_____________________________________________________________________
MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK-
1) THE IDEA OF YOU– 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, “The Idea of You” centers on Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon.”

5/5/24- OK reviews by the critics and I liked it. TRDB.

2) CHALLENGERS– 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “From visionary filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and a force of nature who makes no apologies for her game on and off the court. Married to a champion on a losing streak (Mike Faist – West Side Story), Tashi’s strategy for her husband’s redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face off against the washed-up Patrick (Josh O’Connor.)

4/27/24- Very good reviews from the critics and so-so ones from audiences. TRDB.

5/5/24- I did not like this movie at all– basically lite fluff. Skip it despite all of the advertising and despite Zendaya. TRDB.

3) KISS ME KOSHER– 2020. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “A subversive love story between clashing cultures and families, Kiss Me Kosher is a romantic misadventure crossing all borders. When two generations of Israeli women fall for a German woman and a Palestinian man, chaos follows. What happens with lovers who don’t fit but do belong together?”

5/3/24- Fairly good reviews and I enjoyed it. TRDB.

2) EVIL DOES NOT EXIST–  2023. Synosis by Rotten Tomatoes. In the rural alpine hamlet of Mizubiki, not far from Tokyo, Takumi and his daughter, Hana, lead a modest life gathering water, wood, and wild wasabi for the local udon restaurant. Increasingly, the townsfolk become aware of a talent agency’s plan to build an opulent glamping site nearby, offering city residents a comfortable “escape” to the snowy wilderness.”

5/6/2024- Excellent reviews for this movie from Japan. TRDB.

3) SLOW– 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Dancer Elena and sign language interpreter Dovydas meet and form a beautiful bond. As they dive into a new relationship, they must navigate how to build their own kind of intimacy.”

5/6/24- Excellent reviews for this drama from Lithuania. TRDB.

4) WILDCAT- 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Directed and co-written by four-time Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke, WILDCAT invites the audience to weave in and out of celebrated Southern Gothic writer Flannery O’Connor’s mind as she ponders the great questions of her writing: Can scandalous art still serve God? Does suffering precede all greatness? Can illness be a blessing?”

5/7/24- Poor reviews from the critics and fair ones from audiences. TRDB.

5) THE FALL GUY– 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “He’s a stuntman, and like everyone in the stunt community, he gets blown up, shot, crashed, thrown through windows and dropped from the highest of heights, all for our entertainment.”

5/6/24- Good to very good reviews. TRDB.

6) TURTLES ALL THE WAY DOWN–  2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Turtles All the Way Down tackles anxiety through its 17-year-old protagonist, Aza Holmes. It’s not easy being Aza, but she’s trying… trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, and a good student, all while navigating an endless barrage of invasive, obsessive thoughts that she cannot control.”

5/7/24- Excellent reviews for this drama. TRDB.

7) THE IDEA OF YOU– 2024.
