QUICK LOOK AT MY FAVORITE OF THE WEEK-
1) TAKE CARE OF MAYA– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “When nine-year-old Maya Kowalski was admitted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in 2016, nothing could have prepared her or her family for what they were about to go through. As the medical team tried to understand her rare illness, they began to question the basic truths that bound the Kowalskis together.”

6/24/23- Excellent reviews for this documentary. TRDB.

6/25/23- I saw this yesterday and I agree with those who praised this movie. Really a must see especially for those who care for children professionally.  TRDB.

1) REVOIR PARIS– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “After an idyllic date night full of red wine and a late-night motorcycle ride home, Mia (Virginie Efira) stops at a Parisian bistro to take shelter from a downpour. Her reprieve is shattered when a gunman opens fire. Three months later, with a frustratingly hazy memory of the attack, Mia finds herself numbed and unable to resume her life.”

2) NO HARD FEELINGS– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “On the brink of losing her childhood home, Maddie (Jennifer Lawrence) discovers an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son, Percy, before he leaves for college. To her surprise, Maddie soon discovers the awkward Percy is no sure thing.”

3) THE PERFECT FIND– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “After a high-profile firing, Jenna’s (Gabrielle Union) fashion career comeback hits a snag when she falls for a charming, much younger coworker (Keith Powers) — who happens to be her boss’s son. As sparks fly, Jenna must decide if she’ll risk it all on a secret romance.”

4) WORLD’S BEST– 2023. Synopsis by Disney+. “In “World’s Best,” 12-year-old mathematics genius Prem Patel (Manny Magnus), in the midst of navigating the tumultuous hardships of adolescence, discovers his recently deceased father was a famous rapper and immediately sets out to pursue a career for himself as a rap superstar.”

5) I’LL SHOW YOU MINE- 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “An author sits down to interview her beguiling pansexual nephew, Nick, for a new book about his history as a model.”

6) THE STROLL-2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “The history of New York’s Meatpacking District told from the perspective of transgender sex workers who lived and worked there. They recount the violence, policing, and gentrification that led to a movement for transgender rights.”
7) SUBLIME-– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “In a small coastal town, 16-year-old Manuel plays in a band with his best friends and shares an unbreakable bond with Felipe, who he’s known since childhood. Manuel is also dating Azul, but he begins to feel something unexpected when it comes to their first time together, and it makes him see things in a brand-new light and tests his relationships.
