MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK-
1) YOU CAN LIVE FOREVER– 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. ‘In the early ’90s, gay teen Jaime is sent to live with her devout Jehovah’s Witness relatives after the death of her father. Jaime makes an unexpected connection with Marike, daughter of a prominent Witness Elder. The two are instantly drawn to each other, and begin a secret, unspoken romance.”

5/8/23- Very good reviews for this Lgbtq+ movie. TRDB.

6/22/23- I enjoyed this movie very much. TRDB.

2) IT AIN’T OVER– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “An intimate portrait of a misunderstood American icon, this emotional and uplifting documentary about Yogi Berra takes us beyond the caricatures and “Yogisms,” and into the heart of a sports legend whose unparalleled accomplishments on the baseball diamond were often overshadowed by his off-the-field persona.”

6/21/23- I saw this movie yesterday and liked it very much. TRDB. On Prime for $19.95

1) CADEJO BLANCO– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Sarita goes out dancing one night at the insistence of her free-spirited sister, Bea. Uncharacteristically, Sarita dances the night away, heading home alone when the party drags on too late. The next morning, after calling friends and neighbors, Sarita begins to panic when she realizes that Bea never made it home.”

6/18/23- Good reviews for this foreign drama (Spanish)- TRDB. On Vudu and Apple TV

2) BLUE JEAN– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “England, 1988 — Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government is about to pass a law stigmatizing gays and lesbians, forcing Jean, a gym teacher, to live a double life. As pressure mounts from all sides, the arrival of a new girl at school catalyzes a crisis that will challenge Jean to her core.”

3) ALONERS– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Jina (Gong Seung-yeon) is the top employee at a call center, but despite talking to customers all day, she has shut out the world beyond her headset; she lives alone, eats alone, sleeps alone, and her cell phone is her constant companion. When one day she’s tasked with training a friendly and naïve new hire (Jung Da-eun), her icy armor is threatened.”

5) SCARLET– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Shortly after World War I, veteran Raphaël (Raphaël Thiery) returns home from the frontlines to find himself a widower, and father to an infant daughter. Raised by her father in rural Normandy, the child Juliette (Juliette Jouan) grows into a lonely young woman who dreams of greater possibilities. She seeks refuge in the nearby woods.”
