NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS AND/OR STREAMING-
1) THE EIGHT MOUNTAINS– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “After meeting as children over a series of summers in the Italian Alps, Pietro (Luca Marinelli) and Bruno (Alessandro Borghi) reunite as adults to build a mountainside cottage which becomes a site of both reflection and reconciliation.”

4/30/23- Excellent reviews for this drama from Italy. TRDB.

2) R.M.N.- 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Award-winning director Cristian Mungiu’s (4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days) gripping portrait of ethnic and economic resentments tearing at the fabric of a small mountain town.”

4/30/23- Excellent reviews for this drama from Romania. TRDB.

3) POLITE SOCIETY– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “A merry mash-up of sisterly affection, parental disappointment and bold action, POLITE SOCIETY follows martial artist-in-training Ria Khan who believes she must save her older sister Lena from her impending marriage.”

4/30/23- Excellent reviews from the critics and good ones from audiences. TRDB.

4) ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT’S ME, MARGARET– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “For over fifty years, Judy Blume’s classic and groundbreaking novel Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. has impacted generations with its timeless coming of age story, insightful humor, and candid exploration of life’s biggest questions.”

5) NUCLEAR NOW– 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “As fossil fuels continue to cook the planet, the world is finally becoming forced to confront the influence of large oil companies and tactics that have enriched a small group of corporations and individuals for generations.”

4/30/23- Just a few reviews so far and they are mixed. One reviewer called this documentary “blah.”  TRDB.

6) FOUR QUARTETS– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten tomatoes. “Ralph Fiennes’s exquisite performance of T. S. Eliot’s poetic masterpiece is dynamically translated from stage to screen by director Sophie Fiennes.”

7) BIG GEORGE FOREMAN– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. ‘Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World is based on the remarkable true story of one of the greatest comebacks of all time and the transformational power of second chances.”

4/30/23- Awful reviews by the critics but excellent reviews from audiences. I’ll skip it- I saw the coming attractions and that was enough. TRDB.

8) THE RESTLESS– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Leila and Damien are deeply in love. Despite his bipolarity , he tries to pursue his life with her, knowing he may never be able to offer her what she desires.”

9) THOSE WHO REMAINED– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “A man living a solitary life in post-World War II Hungary meets a young girl.”

4/30/23- Excellent reviews by the critics for this movie from Hungary and so-so reviews by audiences. TRDB.

10) WINTER BOY– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Lucas is 17 when his teenage world is suddenly shattered. He views his life as a wild animal in need of taming. Between a brother settled in Paris and a mother with whom he now lives alone, Lucas will have to fight to rediscover hope and love.”

11) BROADWAY– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Nelly has escaped from her wealthy and controlling family. As she dances in a strip club, she meets Markos, a small yet charismatic gangster, who helps her run away from her stepfather’s henchmen. Markos soon becomes her protector and lover.”

12) WYNONNA JUDD: BETWEEN HELL AND HALLELUUJAH-2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “WYNONNA JUDD: BETWEEN HELL AND HALLELUJAH offers audiences a raw, first-hand glimpse into Wynonna’s life as she bravely embarks on her next chapter following Naomi Judd’s untimely passing.”

13) CENTURION: THE DANCING STALLION– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “The journey begins as Ellissia (Midthunder) adopts a white stallion to train in the art of Mexican horse dancing. As she starts teaching the handsome but previously abused Centurion, Ellissia falls critically ill, which keeps her from competing in a celebrated equestrian event. Under the watchful eyes of her father (Zane).”
