NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS AND/OR STREAMING-
1) JUNIPER– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Ruth (Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling) is a worldly former war correspondent now bored in retirement with a drinking problem and a newly fractured leg. Sam (George Ferrier) is her unruly grandson, recently kicked out of boarding school and grieving the death of his mother. When the two are brought together under the same roof, they form an unexpected bond.”

2/25/23- Excellent reviews by the critics and fair ones from audiences. TRDB.

2) BRUISER– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “14-year-old Darious explores the boundaries of his manhood with Malcolm, his strict but loving father, and Porter, a charismatic drifter. When Darious learns Porter’s true identity, he is thrust into a conflict between the two men.”

3) YANAGOWER– Synopsis by the NY TIMES. “Two brothers reconnect over a lost love in this drama from the Chinese filmmaker Zhang Lu.”2/25/23- Just 2 very good reviews for this movie from China. TRDB.

-4) LINOLEUM– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Cameron Edwin (Jim Gaffigan), the host of a failing children’s science TV show called “Above & Beyond”, has always had aspirations of being an astronaut. After a mysterious space-race era satellite coincidentally falls from space and lands in his backyard, his midlife crisis manifests in a plan to rebuild the machine into his dream rocket.”

5) A HOUSE MADE OF SPLINTERS– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “As the war in Eastern Ukraine takes a heavy toll on poor families living near the frontline, a small group of strong-willed social workers work tirelessly in a special kind of orphanage to create an almost magical safe space for kids to live in while the state decide the future fate of the child and family.”
