NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS AND/OR STREAMING-
1) EMILY– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “EMILY imagines Emily Brontë’s own Gothic story that inspired her seminal novel, “Wuthering Heights.” Haunted by the death of her mother, Emily struggles within the confines of her family life and yearns for artistic and personal freedom, and so begins a journey to channel her creative potential into one of the greatest novels of all time.”
2/19/23- Excellent reviews by the critics and good ones by audiences. TRDB.
2) LONESOME– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Two young men make a connection neither of them expects or knows how to navigate. Casey, a young man from the countryside running from a small-town scandal, finds himself down and out in the big smoke of Sydney. When he meets Tib, a young city lad, struggling with his own scars of isolation, there’s chemistry, not only sexually but also emotionally as both men find something they have been missing.”

3) THE FIRST STEP– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “In a divided America, progressive activist and political commentator Van Jones controversially works across party lines on landmark criminal justice reform and a more humane response to the addiction crisis. Attempting to be a bridge builder in a time of extreme polarization takes Van and a coalition of unlikely allies deep into the inner workings of a divisive administration, internal debates within both parties, and the lives of frontline activists fighting for their communities.”

4) A RADIANT GIRL– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Paris, summer 1942. Irene (Rebecca Marder) is a 19-year-old aspiring actress without a care in the world. Her family watches her discover friends, new love and a passion for the theater, all the while without her realizing that time is running out. Legendary French actress Sandrine Kiberlain makes her directorial debut with this allegorical coming-of-age drama set in Nazi-occupied France.”

5) PACIFICTION– 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “On the French Polynesian island of Tahiti, the High Commissioner of the Republic and French government official DE ROLLER is a calculating man with flawless manners. His somewhat broad perception of his role brings him to navigate the high end ‘establishment’ as well as shady venues where he mingles with the locals.”

6) HIDDEN BLADE- 2023. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “During World War II, at the height of China’s war of resistance against Japan, a group of courageous citizens develops a top-secret underground espionage network right under the nose of the newly established puppet regime. At increasingly great peril to their own lives, the double-agents masterfully extract classified information from deep behind enemy lines, an effort that gives rise to the united front that will help turn the tide of the conflict.”
