1) THE U.S. AND THE HOLOCAUST– This documentary by Ken Burns explores America’s response to the Holocaust, and how it challenged the ideals of democracy.

NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS AND/OR STREAMING-

1) WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND– 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “At the age of 89, Julián takes one last bus ride to El Paso, Texas, to visit his daughters and their children — a lengthy trip he has made without fail every month for decades. After returning to rural Mexico, he quietly starts building a house in the empty lot next to his home. In the absence of his physical visits, can this new house bridge the distance between his loved ones?”

3) GOD’S CREATURES– 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “In a windswept fishing village, a mother is torn between protecting her beloved son and her own sense of right and wrong.”

4) ARGENTINA, 1985- 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Argentina, 1985 is a feature inspired by the true story of Julio Strassera, Luis Moreno Ocampo and their young legal team of unlikely heroes in their David-vs-Goliath battle in which, under constant threat, they dared to prosecute Argentina’s bloodiest military dictatorship against all odds and in a race against time to bring justice to the victims of the junta.”

5) InHOSPITABLE– 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “InHospitable follows patients and activists as they band together in an effort to stop UPMC, a multi-billion-dollar nonprofit hospital system, from making vital care unaffordable for hundreds of thousands of vulnerable patients in western Pennsylvania.”

6) SIRENS– 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “SIRENS intimately chronicles the lives and music of Slave to Sirens, a band made up of five young metalheads whose burgeoning fame is set against the backdrop of the Lebanese revolution. Its members wrestle with friendship, sexuality, and destruction as their music serves as a refuge to Beirut’s youth culture.”

7) FROM THE HOOD TO THE HOLLER– 2022. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Filmmakers capture a young man finding his voice as a leader and his incredible journey against the odds. Igniting a movement known as FROM THE HOOD TO THE HOLLER, political activist Charles Booker works to unite people of all socioeconomic backgrounds while fighting against big money in politics, voter suppression, and systemic corruption.”

8) THE GOOD HOUSE– 2022.
