MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK-
1) EMILY THE CRIMINAL–  2022. Synopsis by RT. “Emily (Aubrey Plaza) is saddled with student debt and locked out of the job market due to a minor criminal record. Desperate for income, she takes a shady gig as a “dummy shopper,” buying goods with stolen credit cards supplied by a handsome and charismatic middleman named Youcef (Theo Rossi).”

2) McENROE– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Set over one New York night, John journeys through memory to recall the triumphs and controversies that marked his career in this neon-infused, archive- blended fantasia. Featuring contributions from fellow icons, Billie Jean King, Bjorn Borg and Keith Richards, as well as his wife and children.”

2)  THE GOOD BOSS– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Básculas Blanco, a Spanish company producing industrial scales in a provincial Spanish town, awaits the imminent visit from a committee which holds its fate in their hands as to whether they merit a local Business Excellence award.”

8/27/22- Very good reviews for this drama. TRDB

3) ADOPTING AUDREY– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Fired from her seventh job in two years and estranged from her family, Audrey (Jenna Malone) is restless and dwells in a distinctly modern solitude, relying on YouTube for companionship. After falling down a video rabbit hole, she discovers the world of adult adoption.”

4) BREAKING– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “When Marine Veteran Brian Brown-Easley is denied support from Veterans Affairs, financially desperate and running out of options, he takes a bank and several of its employees hostage, setting the stage for a tense confrontation with the police. Based on the true story.”

5) KATRINA BABIES– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Edward Buckles Jr. was 12 when Hurricane Katrina changed everything. He found common cause-and shared trauma–with young people whose lives were similarly shaped by the storm.”

6) LOVING HIGHSMITH– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Loving Highsmith is a unique look at the life of celebrated American author Patricia Highsmith based on her diaries and notebooks and the intimate reflections of her lovers, friends and family.”

8) OUR AMERICAN FAMILY– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Addiction is an all-encompassing force, in not only of the lives of the afflicted, but also those around them. OUR AMERICAN FAMILY provides an honest, unfiltered look at a close-knit Philadelphia family dealing with generational substance abuse.”

9) THE BOOK OF DELIGHTS– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Lóri, a free spirited and attractive teacher, leads an erotic life of love affairs, taking charge of her own desires and needs, whilst knowingly avoiding any attachments. A meeting with the Argentinian Ulisses, a renowned and egocentric philosophy teacher sparks a change in Lóri.”

10) GIGI & NATE– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Gigi & Nate is the story of Nate Gibson, a young man whose life is turned upside down after he suffers a near-fatal illness and is left a quadriplegic. Moving forward seems near impossible until he meets his unlikely service animal, Gigi — a curious and intelligent capuchin monkey.”

9/5/22- Terrible reviews by the critics but audiences liked it very much. TRDB.

11) PETER VON KANT– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Peter Von Kant, a successful, famous director, lives with his assistant Karl, whom he likes to mistreat and humiliate. Through the great actress Sidonie, he meets and falls in love with Amir, a handsome young man of modest means. He offers to share his apartment and help Amir Break into the world of cinema.”

12) KAEPERNICK & AMERICA– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Colin Kaepernick took a knee and America lost its mind. Kaep’s knee touched down on the divide between America’s Black and white tectonic plates, creating an earthquake in the eternal race debate.”

4) SEE HOW THEY RUN– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and eager rookie Constable Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) take on the case, the two find themselves thrown into a puzzling whodunit.”
