MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK-
1) ELVIS– 2022. Synopsis by RT, “The film explores the life and music of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom.”

6/29/22- Fair reviews from the critics and excellent ones from audiences. TRDB.

7/3/22- I enjoyed this movie– good acting all around and a well done story of his life. TRDB.

2) TANGO SHALOM– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Moshe Yehuda (Jos Laniado), a Hasidic Rabbi and amateur Hora dancer, enters a big televised Tango competition to save his Hebrew school from bankruptcy. There is only one problem: due to his orthodox religious beliefs, he is not allowed to touch a woman!”

9/21/21- Fairly good reviews for this comedy. TRDB.

7/7/22- I enjoyed this comedy- SO REDICUOUS that it was funny.TRDB.

1) THE FORGIVEN– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “Speeding through the Moroccan desert to attend an old friend’s lavish weekend party, wealthy Londoners David and Jo Henninger (Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain) are involved in a tragic accident with a local teenage boy.”

7/1/22- Fair reviews at best. TRDB. In Theaters

2) MR. MALCOLM’S LIST– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “When she fails to meet an item on his list of requirements for a bride, Julia Thistlewaite (Zawe Ashton) is jilted by London’s most eligible bachelor, Mr. Malcolm (??p?? Dìrísù). Feeling humiliated and determined to exact revenge, she convinces her friend Selina Dalton (Freida Pinto) to play the role of his ideal match. Soon, Mr. Malcolm wonders whether he’s found the perfect woman…or the perfect hoax.”

3) HALLELUJAH: LEONARD COHEN, A JOURNEY, A SONG– In Theaters-
4) CLARA SOLA– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “In a remote village in Costa Rica, 40-year-old Clara endures a repressively religious and withdrawn life under the command of her mother. Her uncanny affinity for creatures large and small allows Clara to find solace in the natural world around her. Tension builds within the family as Clara’s younger niece approaches her quinceañera, igniting a sexual and mystical awakening in Clara, and a journey to free herself from the conventions that have dominated her life.”

5) ACCEPTED– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “T.M. Landry, an unconventional prep school in Louisiana, receives national attention for sending its graduates to elite universities. When an explosive New York Times exposé rocks the school, students face uncertain futures and must decide for themselves what they are willing to do to be accepted.”

6) THE ART OF MAKING IT– 2022. Synopsis by RT. “A film about who gets seen and who gets left behind in today’s seductive, secretive and unregulated art world. The film follows a diverse group of compelling young artists on the brink of unimaginable success or failure as they challenge systems, break barriers and risk it all with the goal of making it in an industry where all the rules are currently being rewritten.”
