MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK-
1) FOUND- 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “Thanks to 23andMe’s genealogy site, adopted American teens Chloe, Sadie and Lily learn they’re biological cousins and decide to journey to China together to uncover their family history, as chronicled in this documentary.”

2) ROADRUNNER: A FILM ABOUT ANTHONY BOURDAIN– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “With his larger-than-life personality, love of food and adventurous spirit, chef and writer Anthony Bourdain was a culinary and cultural force to be reckoned with, as chronicled in this insightful documentary.”

10/24/21- A very interesting and honest documentary about an interesting and honest Bourdain. TRDB. Netflix.

3) ZOLA– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “On a life-changing whim, Detroit waitress Zola joins her new and licentious friend Stefani on a road trip to Florida, where they plan to rake in a bundle as strippers. Instead, they get entangled in a wild ride that includes violence and murder.”

10/25/21- Good reviews from the critics and OK ones from audiences. I thought the movie was just OK. TRDB.

4) LANGUAGE LESSONS– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “When Adam’s (Mark Duplass) husband surprises him with weekly Spanish lessons, he’s unsure about where or how this new element will fit into his already structured life. But when tragedy strikes, his Spanish teacher, Cariño (Natalie Morales), becomes a lifeline he didn’t know he needed.”

3) THE EAST– 2001. Synopsis by Netflix. “In 1946, Indonesian nationalists take advantage of the power vacuum left by Japan’s surrender to rise up against Dutch colonial rule. But when Dutch soldier Johan de Vries is deployed to quell the rebels, he soon begins to question his mission.”

6) BECOMING COUSTEAU– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “While Jacques Cousteau is best known for his undersea films, he was also a French naval officer, co-inventor of the Aqua-Lung, an explorer, an ardent environmentalist and more. This documentary charts his transformative journey.”

7) ESCAPE FROM MOGADISHU– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Rival diplomats from North Korea and South Korea become trapped as civil war rages in Mogadishu, Somalia. With no aid from either government, their only shot at survival requires uniting with bitter adversaries to escape.”

8) NO FUTURE– 2020. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “When an estranged friend shows up on his porch one night, Will (Charlie Heaton) doesn’t know what to say.
