1) THE LAST LETTER FROM YOUR LOVER– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “A pair of interwoven stories set in the present and past, THE LAST LETTER FROM YOUR LOVER follows Ellie Haworth (Felicity Jones), an ambitious journalist who discovers a trove of secret love letters from 1965 and becomes determined to solve the mystery of the forbidden affair at their center.”

1) ALL THE STREETS ARE SILENT: THE CONVERSION OF HIP HOP AND SKATEBOARDING- 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “In the late 80s and early 90s, the streets of downtown Manhattan were the site of a collision between two vibrant subcultures: skateboarding and hip hop.”

2) AILEY- 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Alvin Ailey was a trailblazing pioneer who found salvation through dance. AILEY traces the full contours of this brilliant and enigmatic man whose search for the truth in movement resulted in enduring choreography that centers on the Black American experience with grace, strength, and unparalleled beauty.”

3) VAL– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “Using home movies spanning four decades and footage from the sets of his most iconic films — including “Top Gun” and “The Doors” — this unflinching documentary traces the life and career of maverick actor Val Kilmer.”

4) CHARLATAN- 2020. Synopsis by Netflix. “Across decades and political regimes, herbalist Jan Mikolášek applies his knowledge of plants and gift for healing to help the rich, the poor and the powerful. But his personal life proves his undoing in this fact-based drama.”

5) BROKEN DIAMONDS– 2020. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “A young writer sees his dream put in jeopardy when he has to take care of his mentally ill sister.”

7/23/20- Mixed reviews but mostly poor. TRDB.

6) EYIMOFE (THIS IS MY DESIRE)-  2020. Synopsis by Netflix. “In two loosely connected tales, a pair of Nigerian dreamers — young hairstylist Rosa and electrical engineer Mofe — long to emigrate to foreign shores to make a better life for themselves. But they’re forced to reconsider as their plans fall apart.”

7/23/21- Just a few reviews so far and they are all very good. On a few streaming platforms Apple TV

9) HOLY BEASTS– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “After traveling to Santo Domingo to direct and star in her final film, aging diva Vera Velazquez finds herself working on a cursed project beset by friction, a baffling disappearance, a vampire and death.”

7/24/21- Sounds weird but this film has received fairly reviews. TRDB. On FilmMovementPlus.com

10) JOE BELL– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “JOE BELL tells the intimate and emotional true story of an Oregonian father who pays tribute to his gay teenage son Jadin, embarking on a self-reflective walk across America to speak his heart to heartland citizens about the real and terrifying costs of bullying.”

1) THE GREEN KNIGHT– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “In this retelling of the epic 14th-century tale “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight,” Gawain — a member of King Arthur’s round table — seeks to prove his loyalty to the monarch by taking on the challenge of beheading the Green Knight.”

7/25/21- No reviews noted at this time but there has been some controversial press about this new film. TRDB

2) STILLWATER– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Unemployed roughneck Bill Baker (Academy Award® winner Matt Damon) travels from Oklahoma to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter Allison (Academy Award® nominee Abigail Breslin). Imprisoned for a murder she claims she did not commit.”

1) SWEET THING- 2021. The children ultimately run away and find a temporary life for themselves around the town of New Bedford, MA.”
