MOVIES I SAW LAST WEEK-
1) UNDINE- 2020. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Undine (Paula Beer) works as a historian lecturing on Berlin’s urban development. But when the man she loves leaves her, the myth catches up with her. Undine has to kill the man who betrays her and return to the water.”6/1/21- Fair to good early reviews. TRDB.

6/14/21- I liked this movie despite some difficulty in following a few scenes. TRDB.

1) IN THE HEIGHTS– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “Adapted from a Broadway hit, this musical drama centers on New York City bodega owner Usnavi, a Dominican immigrant longing to retire to his homeland. But when he inherits the money to relocate, he’s reluctant to sever his new bonds.”

4) SUBLET– 2020. Synopsis by Netflix. “Looking to do research for an article, “New York Times” travel writer Michael heads to Tel Aviv and strikes up a friendship with young Tomer, whose flat Michael has sublet. With Tomer as a guide, Michael discovers a new side of the city and himself.”

5) ASIA– 2020. Synopsis by Netflix. “To all outward appearances, single mom Asia and her teenage daughter, Vika, seem more like siblings, though they have little to do with each other. But as Vika’s health begins to fail, the underlying bond between them slowly surfaces.”

Once behind the doors of Pine Grove Senior Community, she encounters lusty widows, cutthroat bridge tournaments and a hotbed of bullying “mean girls” the likes of which she hasn’t encountered since high school.
