I’ve been in transit this week to my NY residence and could not see any movies at all. As many of you know this is unusual and UNACCEPTABLE
QUICK LOOK AT MY FAVORITES OF THE WEEK-
1) SUMMERLAND– Netflix Disc.
2) NOMADLAND– On Demand

MOVIES I SAW LAST WEEK-
1) SUMMERLAND– 2020. Synopsis by Netflix. “Nursing a broken heart, Alice isolates herself in her coastal cottage in Southern England to work on her thesis as World War II rages across Europe. But her seclusion ends when she’s forced to take in young Frank, an evacuee from London.”

7/31/20- Fair reviews for this drama BUT it sounds OK to me. TRDB. 

4/27/21- An OK movie that held my interest most of the time. TRDB. Netflix.

2) NOMADLAND- 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “When her rural Nevada company town goes belly up, Fern packs up her van and starts driving. Becoming a modern-day nomad, she finds work and adventure along the way as she travels across the West.”

2/16/21- Excellent reviews by the critics and fair ones from audiences. TRDB.

4/28/21- I just saw this Academy award winning movie. I enjoyed the movie especially the second half. The first half seemed more like a documentary about the lifestyle. TRDB. Comcast On-Demand

1) TU ME MANQUES– Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “A father travels from Bolivia to New York City to confront his dead son’s boyfriend.”

4/22/21- Great reviews for this Spanish drama. TRDB. On virtual cinemas.

2) WET SEASON– 20XX. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “As Mandarin-language teacher Ling continues with fruitless IVF treatment while taking care of her ailing father-in-law, she finds herself slowly drawn towards a promising student who seems to have been abandoned by his parents.”

4/22/21- Very good reviews. TRDB.

3) PARIS CALLIGRAMMES– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “PARIS CALLIGRAMMES describes the metamorphosis of a young woman from Lake Constance into a free and versatile artist, who rebels against the social expectations and explores Paris during times of radical upheavals.”

4/27/21- Great reviews for this French documentary. TRDB. On Virtual cinemas of film forum

4) MY WONDERFUL WANDA– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. ” Sending her wages to her family in Poland, single mom Wanda works as a caregiver for affluent Swiss businessman Josef, who’s recovering from a stroke at his lakeside villa. When Wanda turns up pregnant, Josef’s entire clan is thrown into a tizzy.”

4/22/21– Fair reviews at best but it sounds interesting to me. TRDB. In Theaters and Virtual cinemas

5) STREET GANG: HOW WE GOT TO SESAME STREET– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Street Gang will take us inside the minds and hearts of the Sesame Street creators to help us understand not only how they produced this groundbreaking show, but also what it was like to be at the center of a cultural and social phenomenon.”

4/22/21- Great reviews for this documentary. TRDB. In theaters.

6) TOGETHER TOGETHER– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “When 26-year-old Anna agrees to be a gestational surrogate for middle-aged bachelor Matt — who’s eager to be a dad — she’s looking for a way to finance her college degree. But she gets much more as the two develop an unexpected friendship.”

4/22/21- Excellent reviews. TRDB. In Theaters.

7) 8 BILLION ANGELS– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “8 Billion Angels explores the birth of mankind and its relentless growth and pursuit to harness, exploit, and ultimately dominate Mother Earth.”

4/22/21- Just 2 reviews so far– one up and one down. TRDB. On Virtual cinemas

1)  SISTERS WITH TRANSISTORS– 20??. Synopsis by Netflix. “Paying tribute to the talented but unsung women who helped pioneer electronic music, this engaging documentary looks at their integral role in defining the genre in spite of the prevailing male mindset at the time.”
