MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK AT HOME-
1) THE LOVEBIRDS– 2020. Synopsis by Netflix. “Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan continue their culinary and cultural adventures as they travel to Greece — a journey inspired by Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey” but powered by clever banter, dead-on celebrity impressions and plenty of libations.”

5/22/20- I really disliked this movie and turned it off quickly. TRDB. Netflix

2) THE PAINTER AND THE THIEF- 2020. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Desperate for answers about the theft of her 2 paintings, a Czech artist seeks out and befriends the career criminal who stole them. After inviting her thief to sit for a portrait, the two form an improbable relationship and an inextricable bond that will forever link these lonely souls.”

5/24/20- Excellent reviews for this movie, listed as a documentary but sounds more like a drama or docudrama. TRDB. On Vudu– rent or buy.

5/24/20- An excellent docudrama. TRDB.  Seen on Prime!

3) UNCUT GEMS– 2019. Synopsis by Netflix. “Howard Ratner, a slick jeweler with an elite client list, finds himself in dire circumstances when somebody steals a valuable cache of his merchandise. With his debts mounting and his foes closing in, Howard makes a string of audacious bets.”

12/13/19- Excellent reviews from all but many of my friends walked out of this movie early on. TRDB.

5/27/20- Just saw this movie and I liked it even though it was really chaotic. Adam Sandler was great. TRDB. Netflix.

4) SWEETHEART– 2017. About a young woman who is stranded alone on a desert island. A monster who comes out at night to kill is the rub here. TRDB.

5/28/20- This thriller was recommended by the NY Times this week and has received good reviews from most critics but audiences did not like it at all. I’m somewhere in the middle- just so-so. TRDB.
