MOVIES I SAW LAST WEEK AT HOME-
1) FYRE: THE GREATEST PARTY THAT NEVER HAPPENED– 2019. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “An exclusive behind the scenes look at the infamous unraveling of the Fyre music festival. Created by Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, Fyre was promoted as a luxury music festival on a private island in the Bahamas featuring bikini-clad supermodels, A-List musical performances and posh amenities.”

1/18/19- Very good reviews. TRDB.

1/22/19- So stupid that I turned it off quickly. Please let me know if I should have watched more. TRDB. Netflix Streaming.

COMING TO NETFLIX NEXT WEEK-
1) THE WIFE– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Great artists’ spouses often sacrifice their dreams for their mates’ careers, and Joan Castleman — a gifted writer — is no exception. But with hubby about to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature, Joan’s long-simmering resentment begins to emerge.”

8/15/18- Excellent reviews in general but a few critics said that the movie was carried by Glenn Close. TRDB.

8/31/18- I enjoyed this movie very much. Both leads were excellent and the story was interesting as well. TRDB. 

2) THE HATE U GIVE– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Though Starr Carter lives in a lower-income black neighborhood, she attends a largely white prep school. When she sees a longtime friend shot by a white police officer, Starr finds herself caught between two worlds as she tries to do the right thing.’

10/4/18- Excellent reviews!! TRDB.

3) STUDIO 54- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “This riveting documentary charts the rise and fall of New York City’s Studio 54, the nightclub of choice for countless celebrities in the late 1970s. But the venue’s three years of glory came to an end when its founders were indicted for tax evasion.”

10/4/18- Excellent reviews for this documentary. TRDB.

4) BOY ERASED– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Nineteen-year-old Jared is far from ready to tell his parents that he’s gay, but they find out anyway, forcing him to make a choice: attend a “conversion therapy” program or be shunned by his family and Baptist community.”

11/2/18- Very good reviews by the critics and fairly good ones from audiences. TRDB.

11/28/18- Another good movie about what it’s like being gay and the folly of “conversion therapy.” TRDB.

Recommended-
1) WHO WILL WRITE OUR HISTORY– 2019. Synopsis by Netflix. “In this dramatized documentary, a crew of Polish actors joins readers Joan Allen and Adrien Brody to bring to life the Oyneg Shabes Archive, a written and photographic record of life in World War II’s Nazi-created Warsaw Ghetto.”

1/18/19- Excellent reviews for this dramatized documentary. TRDB.

3) ADULT LIFE SKILLS– 2019. Synopsis by Netflix. “Pushing 30 and determined to avoid adulthood, Anna lives in her mom’s garden shed and makes videos using her thumbs as characters. In time, however, she forms an unlikely bond with a reticent 8-year-old boy from her neighborhood.”

1/18/19- Fair reviews at best for this foreign comedy including some very good and some fairly poor. TRDB.

4) DON’T COME BACK FROM THE MOON– 2019. Synopsis by Netflix. “In the Southern California desert community of Bombay Beach, husbands are forsaking their families — leaving their wives in despair and their teenage offspring to fend for themselves as they try to come to grips with being abandoned.”

1/18/19- Excellent reviews for this drama. TRDB.

4) ON THE BASIS OF SEX– Jacob Burns, Bethel, Danbury, Clearview 100.. I saw this movie and enjoyed it but not as much as RBG.
5) STAN & OLLIE Jacob Burns, Bethel, Clearview 100. G.ood reviews but and I’ll see it for sure
6) THE FAVOURITE– Jacob Burns, Bethel, Danbury, Clearview 100. Good reviews but of no interest to me

C) THE STONZEK THEATER AT THE LAKE WORTH PLAYHOUSE-
1) TOUCH ME NOT- 2019. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “TOUCH ME NOT follows the emotional journeys of Laura, Tómas and Christian, offering a deeply empathic insight into their lives. Craving for intimacy yet also deeply afraid of it, they work to overcome old patterns, defense mechanisms and taboos, to cut the cord and finally be free.”

1/11/19- This movie has half excellent reviews and half terrible reviews– very unusual and I’ll have to see it eventually. TRDB.

2) SINATRA IN PALM SPRINGS– Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Palm Springs, a small desert oasis 100 miles East of Los Angeles was Sinatra’s true home for 50 years. During his brief yet turbulent marriage to Ava Gardner his Palm Springs home was center stage. For the rest of his life, the Rancho Mirage compound on Frank Sinatra Drive, was the home he called “My Heaven”.

1) AN ACCEPTABLE LOSS– Terrible reviews by the critics. Audiences have liked it.
2) COLD WAR– Excellent reviews.
3) SHOPLIFTERS– Very good reviews.
4) STAN & OLLIE– Excellent reviews
5) THE WORLD BEFORE YOUR FEET– Excellent reviews.
6) FREE SOLO– I saw this and liked it. Very suspenseful and not to be confused with the movie “SOLO” that I enjoyed as well.
