1/28/18- I’ll side with audiences on this one. Certainly not a great movie but I did enjoy it. TRDB. Netflix Streaming.
2) MR. ROOSEVELT– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix “Texas native Emily is trying to make it as a comic in Los Angeles when she gets word from her ex that the cat they once shared is ailing. Hightailing it back to Austin, Emily finds the feline dead — and a new girlfriend ensconced in her former home.’

4) BACK TO SCHOOL– Starring Rodney Dangerfield, a successful businessman who goes back to college.
1/29/18- A classic comedy. I hadn’t seen it in a few years and loved it all over again. TRDB.
2/24/17- Mostly unrealistic and it held my interest only on occasion. TRDB.
2) TAKE EVERY WAVE: THE LIFE OF LAIRD HAMILTON– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Turning to the mammoth waves of Oahu’s north shore to escape an abusive home, Laird Hamilton has made surfing innovation his life’s work. With a winter surf season on Kauai as the backdrop, this in-depth documentary charts his story.”

2) WEST OF THE JORDAN RIVER– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Provocative Israeli filmmaker Amos Gitai provides an update to his 1982 documentary about the occupied territories, interviewing politicians, journalists, activists and ordinary citizens about their lives, their hopes for the future and more.”

3) THE LAST FAMILY– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Capturing the many obsessions of 20th-century Polish painter Zdzislaw Beksinski, this highly stylized biopic chronicles his relationships with his long-suffering wife, Zofia, and the couple’s mentally unstable son, Tomasz.”

4) THE OPERA HOUSE– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Through archival film and interviews, filmmaker Susan Froemke charts the fascinating history of New York City’s famed Metropolitan Opera, from its early days on 39th Street to its move to Lincoln Center in 1966.”

5) PLEASE STAND BY– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Intent on submitting her 500-page script to a writing competition, autistic young Wendy sneaks away from her care home and heads for Hollywood. In hot pursuit is her caregiver, Scottie — who inspired Wendy to begin writing in the first place.”

6) LIKE ME– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “In search of celebrity at any cost, young loner Kiya begins recording bizarre and often repellent “real life” episodes for an online audience that swells to viral proportions. But the effect on Kiya’s life soon becomes nightmarish.”

7) SHOT IN THE DARK– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “While basketball coach Lou Adams and his Orr Academy players have been scarred by the violence and inequality endemic to their inner-city Chicago neighborhood, that’s all the more reason for them to dream big, as chronicled in this documentary.”

8) MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “In the final stirring chapter of the “Maze Runner” trilogy, Thomas and his Glader warriors have one last chance to find a cure for the Flare pandemic. As the apocalyptic face-off with the WCKD organization begins, Thomas employs a daring strategy.”

12/29/17- Reviews were just OK but there were some very good ones mixed in as well. TRDB.
2) THE SQUARE– Jacob Burns. 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Testing the thin line between art and reality, a famed museum’s new creative director mounts an installation — “The Square” — intended to foster altruism. But he sets off a hue and cry after enlisting a public relations firm to tout the exhibition.”
10/27/17- Fairly good reviews for this odd sounding drama/comedy. I’ll see it. TRDB.

2) DJANGO– 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “In this poignant biopic, jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt escapes the persecution that his Gypsy brethren suffer in German-occupied France, but when the Nazis demand that Django use his music to fuel their propaganda, he faces a daunting decision.”
