6/14/17- I thoroughly enjoyed this British movie about a guy trying to do the right thing who is failed by the state. Poignant and funny at times as well. TRDB. Comcast On-Demand.

5/29/17- Very well done drama/horror movie. Generally this type is not for me- but this one did hold my interest. TRDB.
3) LIFE– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Humans have long considered the possibility of life on Mars. So, when an International Space Station crew discovers a one-celled organism in a sample from the red planet, they’re ecstatic — until the tiny life-form displays a freakish intelligence.”3/24/17- Fair reviews at best. THE HERO– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Now in the sunset of his long film career as a Western cowboy, Lee Hayden earns a living doing voice-overs while spending his spare time in a marijuana haze. But a cancer diagnosis leads him to reassess his past and mend his fractured relationships.”6/9/17-
Mixed reviews at best- more positive than negative- but it did sound interesting to me. TRDB.
2) DAWSON CITY: FROZEN TIME– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Using material from 1910s and ’20s silent films and newsreels that were found buried in Dawson City, Yukon, in 1978, director Bill Morrison put together this fascinating history of the gold rush boomtown.”
6/9/17- Great reviews for this documentary. One critic called it a masterpiece. TRDB.
3) BIATRIZ AT DINNER– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “When her car breaks down at the home of rich clients, holistic health practitioner Beatriz is invited to stay for the couple’s important dinner party — which becomes a battleground as Beatriz clashes with billionaire real-estate developer Doug.”
6/9/17- Fairly good reviews from the critics and excellent ones from audiences. TRDB.
4) NIGHT SCHOOL– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Adults Greg, Melissa and Shynika are looking to improve their prospects by earning high school diplomas in Indianapolis, where graduation rates are shockingly low. This documentary charts their tenacious efforts as they face a raft of challenges.”

5) MOSCOW NEVER SLEEPS– 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Moscow’s dark magnetism forms the backdrop for this multithreaded tale about five people — a businessman, a songbird, an actor, a young girl and a mom — trying to navigate their way through a series of challenging obstacles.”
6/9/17- Fairly good reviews with the exception of the NY Times review. Sounds good to me. TRDB.
6) ASCENT- 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Blending fact and fiction, director Fiona Tan uses more than 4,000 still images of Japan’s iconic Mount Fuji to depict the epistolary account of a man’s ascent of the peak, which triggers pensive recollections in his partner after his death.”
