MOVIES I SAW THIS WEEK AT HOME-
1)
EVEREST- 2015. Synopsis by Netflix. “Based on a true-life tale of death and survival on the world’s tallest mountain, this epic adventure tracks the fate of two climbing parties that become trapped when a savage snowstorm engulfs the summit of Mount Everest.”9/15/15-
Fairly good reviews. TRDB.
5/13/16- Enough schmaltz to last for a while but some of the photography made this movie bearable for me. It also had a confusing cast of characters. Many movies (documentaries) about climbing Everest or K2 have been much better. TRDB. Netflix.
2) WHERE TO INVADE NEXT?– 2015. Synopsis by Netflix. “With an eye toward finding solutions to the social problems plaguing America, provocative documentarian Michael Moore embarks on a European expedition to interview ordinary citizens about their nations’ effective policies and practices.”
12/23/15- Fairly good reviews from some critics and pretty bad ones from others. Audiences have seemed to like it. TRDB.
5/15/16- Another expose a la Moore but this one a bit lighter and maybe a bit more optimistic from this liberal idealist. I liked it. TRDB. Comcast On-Demand.
3) WILDLIKE– 2015. Synopsis by Netflix. “With her mother in rehab, 14-year-old Mackenzie is sent to live with her uncle in Juneau, Alaska. But when he turns into a sexual predator, Mackenzie flees into the unfamiliar wilderness, where a widowed backpacker reluctantly becomes her lifeline.”

Not Recommended-
1) HIGH-RISE– 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “Robert Laing moves into an impressive tower apartment in London, with sumptuous amenities and views. As time passes, however, Laing begins to observe the other residents of the building engaging in bizarre and violent behavior.”
