AMERICAN ANARCHIST- 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “In 1970, political activist William Powell penned “The Anarchist Cookbook,” a do-it-yourself guide to bomb making that was broadly condemned by authorities. But he later came to regret writing the book, as detailed in this absorbing documentary.”

TICKLING GIANTS- 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “In 2011, Egyptian heart surgeon Bassem Youssef traded his scalpel for a microphone and soon became the most popular satirical voice on Egyptian television with “Al Bernameg,” a show that regularly tests the tolerance of government authorities.”
3/17/17- Critics loved this movie– audiences liked it but were less enthusiastic. TRDB.
6/15/17- An excellent documentary about Egypt and about freedom in general. TRDB. Seen at Temple Beth El in Chappaqua.

MY SCIENTOLOGY MOVIE- 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “In a quest to better understand the psychological impulses that attract people to the Church of Scientology, this compelling exposé re-enacts incidents described by disillusioned former members. Meanwhile, the Church tries to hamstring the project.”
3/10/17- Very good reviews by critics and fair at best reviews from audiences. TRDB.

CANNERS- 2017. This movie is about the “canners”, the people who pick up trashed cans and bottles to earn money on the deposits collected.
