AMERICAN REUNION- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “The four lustful buddies of American Pie return to East Great Falls for their 10-year high school reunion and a flood of memories. In the franchise’s latest installment, the guys look back at their quest to lose their virginity in the first film.”

4/6/12- Weak review in today’s NY Times and weak professional reviews elsewhere as well. Audiences seem to like it. TRDB.

TAKE ME HOME

TAKE ME HOME- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “Thom is an unlicensed New York cabbie who takes on the fare of his life when a woman asks him to drive her to California to see her ailing father. In classic rom-com style, the chemistry between the two builds as they make their way west.”

Fairly good audience reviews so far. TRDB.

6/11/12- A cute romantic comedy and since I love road trip movies I enjoyed this one too. TRDB. Netflix.

DAMSELS IN DISTRESS

DAMSELS IN DISTRESS- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “In Whit Stillman’s offbeat comedy, three pretty friends plan to use music, dance and perfume to brighten the lives of their fellow college students. But before long, the girls find themselves busy dealing with problems of their own.”

This sounds silly but it’s received good early reviews. TRDB.

4/6/12- Good review in today’s NY Times. TRDB.

4/29/12- This movie, while done in a clever manner, was way too cool for itself and I really didn’t care for it. TRDB. At the Theater.

NEW YEAR’S EVE- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “In this star-studded romantic comedy, the fates of a diverse group of New Yorkers are wound together on New Year’s Eve — including one expectant couple hoping their baby will be the first to be born in the Big Apple after midnight.” Very good audience reaction so far but no professional reviews available. FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “This raucous rom-com chronicles the relationship of two busy singles, Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis), who agree to include sex in their friendship — minus the emotions and commitment. But things get complicated when Dylan (inevitably?) falls for his gal pal. Patricia Clarkson co-stars as Jaime’s hip mom and Woody Harrelson plays Dylan’s practical confidante, who advises him to man up when he pursues the newly dating Jamie.” Actually got an OK review from NY Times on 7/22/11. TRDB.

1/24/12- Despite the good reviews and a few funny situations I thought the movie was ridiculous and I turned it off midway. TRDB. Netflix.

Premise by Netflix. “Whiz-kid producer Becky Fuller (Rachel McAdams) finds her abilities put to the test when she’s charged with bringing a network morning show back from ratings purgatory. Her first job: getting the show’s feuding, acid-tongued co-hosts (Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton) under control. Jeff Goldblum co-stars as Fuller’s network-exec boss and Patrick Wilson is Becky’s put-upon boyfriend in this comedy from the writer of The Devil Wears Prada.” Good audience reviews, none professional.
