4/30/17- I enjoyed the film but I did not think it was special. TRDB. At the Theater.

YEAR BY THE SEA- 2017. Synopsis by Netflix. “Search – DVD Netflix. “In this indie dramedy, wife and mother Joan sets a new course for herself when she opts not to accompany her husband from New York City to his new job in Kansas. Instead, she trades her empty nest for a Cape Cod beach house.”

2/24/17- Mostly unrealistic and it held my interest only on occasion. TRDB. At the Theater.

ENOUGH SAID

ENOUGH SAID- 2013. Synopsis by Netflix. “Julia Louis-Dreyfus and James Gandolfini star in this charming comedy about a divorced woman venturing into a relationship with a sweet man. But things get tricky when she discovers the man she’s dating is the hated ex-husband of her new best friend.”

9/24/13- Excellent reviews from nearly everyone. TRDB.

9/29/13- With a very good script, very good acting and with great chemistry between the two main actors this movie seemed like real life with all of  its conflicts. TRDB. At the Theater.

LOVE AND HONOR- 2013. Synopsis by Netflix. “Dalton, serving in Vietnam, gets a “Dear John” letter and turns a week’s furlough into a desperate (and illegal) trip home to win back his girl. Joined by his friend and fellow soldier Mickey, Dalton’s move could land them both in the stockade.”

GAYBY

GAYBY- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “When yoga teacher Jenn and her gay friend Matt find themselves thirtysomething, single and childless, they decide to parent a baby together. But trouble arises when they discover they have differing ideas about the method of the child’s conception.”

10/12/12- Weak review in today’s NY Times but critics and audiences alike have enjoyed it. TRDB.

3/16/13- Despite the abundance of gay stereotypes a lot of the dialogue was interesting, particularly related to the 2 leads, and I did enjoy this occasionally silly movie. TRDB.

LIBERAL ARTS

LIBERAL ARTS- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “A speaking engagement brings 35-year-old Jesse back to his college alma mater, where he’s blindsided by nostalgia and a plucky sophomore named Zibby. Newly single and unfulfilled by his job, Jesse finds Zibby pulling him out of his disillusionment.”

HOPE SPRINGS

HOPE SPRINGS- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “Feeling disconnected in her decades-old marriage, Maeve convinces her skeptical husband to attend a marriage therapy week with a celebrated relationship expert — but now they must shed their inhibitions and learn some new sexual and emotional moves.”

Very good professional and audience reviews . TRDB.

8/19/12- I liked this movie very much. I found it realistic, honest and very well acted. The comedy involved was a case of “the laughs” when we were uncomfortable with the honesty of the material. Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones were great and great together. TRDB. At the Theater.
