DIFRET

DIFRET- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “After shooting a man who tried to force her into marriage, a 14-year-old Ethiopian girl is jailed and charged with murder. Now, the only thing standing between her and the death penalty is a zealous young lawyer determined to save her client’s life.”.

7/10/16- A very good and realistic docudrama about a young girl and her attempt, with the help of a dedicated lawyer, to free herself from prosecution by traditional tribal laws. TRDB. Netflix Streaming.

SAL

SAL- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “Sal Mineo — one of Hollywood’s first openly gay actors — provides the focus of this biopic that tracks his career ups and downs and his tragic death. Mineo was on the verge of a comeback when he was stabbed to death behind his apartment building.”

THE ICEMAN

THE ICEMAN- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “This thriller based on a true story follows Richard Kuklinski, who killed more than 100 people for the mob — and his own pleasure — between 1964 and 1986. Despite his prolific violence, Kuklinski was a devoted husband and father of two daughters.”

Early reviews look good for this docudrama including a NY Times review on 5/3/13. TRDB.

5/1/13- A riveting performance by Michael Shannon as the contract killer Richard Kuklinski places this movie at a suspenseful level and keeps it there. TRDB.

4/6/12- Weak review in today’s NY Times and by many other critics as well. TRDB.

8/6/12- I found this movie interesting primarily because it was based on a true story. There was some original footage as well. It was worth seeing for the historical information especially leading up to the storming of the aircraft. TRDB. Netflix.
