INSTANT FAMILY- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Adopting three foster children at once thinking that it’s a perfect way to start a family, Pete and Ellie fail to consider that their new charges may be hellions — which they are. Not only do the kids flout the rules, they see no reason for parents.”

THE LONG DUMB ROAD- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “A chance meeting of two men at turning points in their lives leads to a chaotic but enlightening road trip as young Nathan — on his way to a Los Angeles art school — is taken out of his comfort zone by boozy mechanic Richard.”

11/9/18- Reviews were  mixed in general but it sounded interesting enough to include this as a recommendation. TRDB.

2/24/19- I enjoyed this movie. Don’t get turned off by the cursing and childlike performances early in the movie. TRDB. Netflix Disc.

IN A RELATIONSHIP- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Though Hallie and Owen can’t agree on how many years they’ve been a couple, they agree that it’s time for a break when Owen balks at the idea of living together. Meanwhile, new love blooms between Owen’s best friend and Hallie’s heartbreaker cousin.”

11/9/18- Fair reviews but it sounded more interesting to me.  TRDB.

MID90’s

MID90’s- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “In 1990s Los Angeles, teenage Stevie is looking for his place in a world dominated by his abusive older brother and needy single mom. After finding acceptance with the crew at a skateboard shop, Stevie learns some hard lessons about race and class.”

ALL SQUARE

ALL SQUARE- 2018. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “John Zbikowski (Michael Kelly) is a down-on-his-luck, small town bookie having a hard time collecting on outstanding debts. After a one night stand with an ex-girlfriend (Pamela Adlon), John strikes up an unlikely friendship with her 12-year old son, Brian (Jesse Ray Sheps), and develops a plan to recoup the money owed to him by taking bets on Brian’s Youth League Baseball games.”

10/11/18- Good reviews by most. Sounds funny. TRDB.

3/22/19- I really liked the first 2/3 very much but it sort of went downhill and chaotic after that. Still, I’d recommend it. TRDB. Netflix Disc.

THE SISTERS BROTHERS- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “In this darkly comic Western set in the 1850s, two hit man brothers are tasked with hunting down and killing gold prospector Hermann Kermit Warm, who stole from their boss. But along the way, the siblings find their bond put to the test.”

9/21/18- Very good reviews for this Western. TRDB.

2/27/19- The movie held my interest primarily due to the acting– not the story itself. TRDB. Netflix Disc.
