Film Festivals/Special Events

9/23/10- I just returned from the 1st Annual L-Dub Film Festival (Lake Worth, Fl) where we live in Florida. I was impressed by the young talent in the area and enjoyed many of the films in different categories. In particular, I enjoyed a feature film by Keri Lurtz called “Lost Angel.” It’s about 3 actor friends who go to LA together to “make it” there and shows their deterioration. Difficult to watch but worth the ride. Lurtz has real talent and I’ll watch the progress of this film and let you al know when it comes around. TRDB.

4/13/10 Last night I gave a presentation both before and after a showing of Vincere by Marco Bellochio in Florida at the Emerging Cinemas of Lake Worth. This movie received rave reviews in NY when it opened a few weeks ago and I was happy to lead the discussion. The movie has been well attended and we had about 50 people for the presentation. TRDB.

3/15/10- I’m back from the   This festival wasn’t nearly as well done as the one I attended on the Vineyard last September- the Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival. TRDB.

3/11/10- I’m off to the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival this weekend with a quick stopover in Boston. I’ll report back next week. TRDB.

1/18/10- Well, I’ve been in Florida for a few days with my children and grandchildren- GREAT FUN! I enjoyed Palm Springs very much, saw a few films that I liked a lot but was also disappointed in a few. I’ll report in with my next Newsletter in about a week. TRDB.

1/3/10– This Thursday I’m going to California to attend the Palm Springs International Film Festival. I’ll be there for 5 days and then on vacation in Florida. I’ll report about the festival by newsletter when I return home and perhaps sooner on the website. TRDB.

11/19/09- This week I had a speaking engagement at The Emerging Cinemas of Lake Worth in Lake Worth Florida. I spoke after the movie “Trucker” and it was a lively discussion with an animated audience.

9/10/09 This weekend I’m going to the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival with my wife and friends Donna and Sol. I’ll report back next week on what I’ve seen.

9/13/09 Just got back from the festival which I thoroughly enjoyed. I saw just 3 movies, one each day, but I loved two of them and liked one a lot.  The names are “Departures”, “Captain Abu Raed” and “Laila’s Birthday.” See my next Newsletter (#294) for details!!!
