Synopsis by Netflix. “Set in urban Atlanta, this hyperreal gangster drama centers on kinetic dope dealer Curtis Snow, who nabs a video camera off a pair of college kids, then begins recording the deals, deliveries and shoot-outs that comprise his daily operation. Whether outrunning the police or caring for his 2-year-old son, Snow takes the constant hustle in stride, but the fast-moving gangster feels real heat after crossing a revenge-minded rival dealer.”

REMEMBRANCE- 2011. Synopsis by the New York Jewish Film Festival. “Inspired by actual events, Remembrance depicts a remarkable love story that blossomed in the terror and squalor of a Nazi concentration camp in 1944 Poland. In a daring escape, Tomasz, a young Polish prisoner, rescues his Jewish lover, Hannah. In the chaos of the end of the war, they are forcibly separated and each is convinced that the other has died. More than 30 years later in New York City, Hannah believes she has seen her Tomasz interviewed on television and she begins to search for him again. Anna Justice (Max Minsky and Me, NYJFF 2009) directs this powerful and artfully crafted drama.”

4/19/12- An excellent movie depicting one of 6 million different stories. TRDB. At the Theater- part of the 2012 Jewish Film Festival at Jacob Burns.

9/15/12- This movie had some redeeming social value and did hold my interest at times. TRDB. Netflix Streaming.

THE BROKEN TOWER- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “Written and directed by star James Franco, this lyrical drama explores the life of renowned American poet Hart Crane, who struggled with his homosexuality and his writing before committing suicide by jumping off a ship at age 32.”

Few reviews noted and they are not good. This movie is available on Netflix. TRDB.

A SIMPLE LIFE- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “After working for the Leung family for decades, aservant still takes care of filmmaker Roger Leung — but when she falls sick, the tables are turned as Roger looks after her in this heartwarming tale inspired by a true story.”

4/14/13- Very good review in yesterday’s NY Times and from various other sources as well. TRDB.

4/24/13- A thoughtful and very well acted movie that I highly recommend. TRDB.

KADDISH FOR A FRIEND

KADDISH FOR A FRIEND- About a young refugee and his family from Lebanon living in Germany who befriends an old Jewish man living in the apartment above him.

4/13/12- I saw this as part of the 2012 Jewish Film Festival at Jacob Burns. A very interesting and appealing plea for rapprochement between Arab and Jew on a 1 to 1 basis. TRDB.
