6/7/13- A weak review in today’s NY Times,  mixed reviews in general. Audiences have liked it. TRDB.

A WEDDING INVITATION- 2013. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “High school sweethearts QiaoQiao and Li Xing are about to graduate from university and Li Xing surprises QiaoQiao with a marriage proposal. QiaoQiao, however, declines the proposal, offering rash arguments as to why he’s not ready. Little does he know, QiaoQiao has a devastating secret.”

NANCY, PLEASE- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “A doctoral candidate who just moved in with his girlfriend wages a maddening war with his former roommate to reclaim an important book he left behind. But Nancy has no intention of giving Little Dorrit back.”

5/24/13- All of the critics (including the NY Times today) liked it but none raved about it. Audiences have liked it as well. TRDB.

ERASED- 2013. Synopsis by Netflix. “Ex-CIA agent and current security expert Ben Logan has moved to Belgium with his estranged 15-year-old daughter. But when they’re both targeted for assassination, they must go on the run and learn to trust each other.”

SHADOW DANCER

SHADOW DANCER- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “Collette, a single mother and career IRA terrorist, is captured after an abortive bombing in London and faces an excruciating ultimatum. She can either turn against her lifelong compatriots or go to prison and be separated forever from her son.”

5/31/13- Very good reviews in general and a very good one in today’s NY Times as well. TRDB.

8/25/13– The movie was touted as riveting but I didn’t think so. Some good acting by the two leads saved this slow, slogging story about the IRA. TRDB.

THE KINGS OF SUMMER- 2013. Synopsis by Netflix. “Chafing under his widowed father’s control, Joe Toy invites a friend and an offbeat new kid to help him build his own house in the nearby woods. Now that the trio is finally free from parents and responsibility, what’s next?”

5/31/13- Just an OK review in today’s NY Times. TRDB.

9/27/13- I’ll give this film a mixed review– some very good parts and some very bad, stupid parts. I do think it’s worth seeing as yet another coming-of-age story. TRDB. Netflix.

HANNAH ARENDT

HANNAH ARENDT- 2012. Synopsis by Netflix. “After fleeing Nazi Germany for the United States, a Jewish-German philosopher accepts an assignment from the New Yorker to cover the trial of an infamous war criminal, resulting in an article that ignites controversy all over the world.”

8/6/13- Good reviews all over. TRDB.

11/25/13- I think that the movie gave a good description of the character and what she was about but as for the movie it felt a bit Hollywoodish and overacted. TRDB.
