12/9/11- Great review in today’s NY Times and from others as well. None of my friends liked it. TRDB.

4/23/12- I agree with my friends. I did not like it and decided not to stick with it to try to put together all of the scenes that bored me in the first place. TRDB.

Ajla and her husband struggle with to keep their relationship alive, a battle that distracts them from the nation’s upheaval.”

12/23/11- OK review in today’s NY Times but poor reviews over all. TRDB.

ALBERT NOBBS

ALBERT NOBBS- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “Having for decades disguised herself as a man while working as a butler in a posh 19th-century Dublin hotel, a woman calling herself AlbertNobbs reconsiders her charade when a handsome painter arrives on the scene.” Mediocre reviews. TRDB.

5/19/12- Despite the “fair at best” reviews I found the movie compelling. TRDB. Netflix.

But when Florrie suddenly goes missing, Jack must confront his suspicious community, as well as his own past. Josiane Balasko co-stars in this British drama as Stephanie, Jack’s neighbor who possesses a talent for cooking — and a closely guarded secret.” Good reviews. TRDB.

6/20/12- OK if you can get used to a Shakespeare play acted out in a modern movie. I had some trouble. TRDB. Netflix.

4/2/12- About as slow as molasses in the frig. but still an interesting view of a sub-culture in Iran. TRDB. Netflix.

TOMBOY- 2011. Synopsis by Netflix. “Uncomfortable living as a girl, 10-year-old Laure decides to spend her childhood as Michael. When Michael’s family moves to rural France, the child wins friends and comes to understand the complexities of gender.”

STOLEN LIFE- 2005. Synopsis by Netflix. “A young girl’s lonely life seems to be looking up when she’s accepted by a university, but her joy is short-lived. Having been raised by indifferent relatives in Beijing, naive freshman Yan’ni (Xun Zhou) finds it hard to resist when a charming deliveryman starts to pay attention to her. But she’s soon on a downward spiral, as she becomes pregnant, drops out of school and ends up living in her lover’s drab room.”
