JOE- 2013. Synopsis by Netflix. “When ex-con Joe hires 15-year-old Gary to help clear trees for a lumber company, he doesn’t expect to become a father figure for the abused boy. When Gary runs away from home, Joe becomes his protector, a role overshadowed by his own troubled past.”

6/22/14- After a slow start the movie became interesting with a good acting job by Nicholas Cage for a change. Worth a viewing. TRDB.

NYMPHOMANIAC: VOLUME 2- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “The second half of Lars von Trier’s epic follows self-diagnosed nymphomaniac Joe as she chronicles her adult years to the man who saved her from a beating. Her tales include new conquests, both male and female, in her search for fulfillment.”
4/4/14- Mixed reviews– more positive than negative. TRDB.
8/3/14- After saying that Volume 1 was so bad that I would never see Volume 2 someone convinced me to see it. I turned this one off too. TRDB.

BREATHE IN- 2013. Synopsis by Netflix. “Music teacher Keith has his mind focused on the past when he and his wife agree to welcome a foreign exchange student into their household. But the arrival of a British girl who’s the same age as their daughter has a way of shaking up the present.”
3/28/14- An OK review in today’s NY Times and mixed reviews from others and from audiences as well. TRDB.
8/17/14- Excellent acting is at the core of this movie that deals with a theme we’ve all heard before. I enjoyed it never-the-less. TRDB.

ROB THE MOB- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “Looking for easy money, a criminal couple sticks up New York City’s top mobsters at their gun-free social clubs. In the process, the pair comes across a complete list of Mafia members — and promptly becomes targets of the gangsters and the FBI.”

JUST A SIGH- 2013. Synopsis by Netflix. “During a break between performances in Calais, French theater actress Alix meets an enigmatic English man on the train to Paris — and the two wind up having a passionate encounter that may change both their lives.”
3/21/14- Mixed reviews including some awful ones but the movie sounds interesting. The NY Times did like it. TRDB.
9/21/14- I enjoyed the movie, especially the way information came out in layers. Emmanuelle Devos was her usual wonderful. TRDB. Netflix Streaming.

7/11/14– Lots of very good reviews but I lost interest after half of the movie at most. I think I “got it” too early and didn’t need a whole parade singing Jodorowsky’s praise. TRDB.
