A MONSTER WITH A THOUSAND HEADS- 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “As her husband grapples with cancer, Sonia’s repeated calls to their medical insurers go unanswered, preventing any treatment. Driven to desperation, Sonia vows to get the company’s attention by any means necessary — including violence.”

5/15/16- Very good reviews by the critics and excellent ones from audiences. TRDB.

8/16/16- A bit difficult to believe some of the early plot points but the movie was very well done and a real example of what people go through and how they can react sometimes. Definitely worth seeing. TRDB. Netflix.

5/13/16- Very good reviews by the professionals and weak ones from audiences. TRDB.

10/24/16- The theme is not a new one but the characters are excellent and the visual beauty of Scotland is magnificent. Even though it is slow moving I stuck it out. TRDB. Netflix Streaming.

DHEEPAN- 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “Forced into exile by war in his native Sri Lanka, former Tamil resistance fighter Dheepan is able to find refugee housing in the suburbs of Paris. However, he soon discovers that his new world is nearly as oppressive as the one he left behind.”

6/16/17- A wonderful movie that again brought out the effects of war on those who flee. TRDB. Netflix. Disc.

BEING CHARLIE

BEING CHARLIE- 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “For Charlie, spending his 18th birthday in a Utah rehab clinic is not OK. So he busts out and heads back to California — only to be greeted by his politico dad, who promptly enrolls him in another facility. Here, things begin to change.”

5/6/16- A few good reviews but mostly poor ones. My nephew co-wrote this movie and he is very funny and very creative so I’d make every attempt to see this film. TRDB.

10/8/16- Really poor reviews but I thought that the movie had merit and I enjoyed it. My nephew Matt Elisofon co-wrote the screenplay. TRDB. Netflix Disc.

RIVER OF GRASS- 1995. Synopsis by Netflix. “Cozy and Lee (Lisa Bowman and Larry Fessenden), lovers who are as criminally inclined as they come, plan a road spree of robbery and mayhem. But after bungling a series of heists and having to outrun the police for a crime they didn’t commit, they decide that doin’ what comes naturally requires more effort than they can exert. Talk about laid-back gangsters!”

4/29/16- OK professional reviews and the same for audiences. TRDB.

8/21/16- I was riveted to the screen. Juliette Binoche is great in the part and despite the slow pace I really enjoyed the movie. TRDB. Netflix.

 4/22/16– Fair reviews from the critics and excellent ones from audiences. It sounds interesting to me and the NY Times liked it also. TRDB.

10/22/16- I enjoyed this movie– nothing great but entertaining and I liked Tom Hanks as usual. TRDB.

I AM YOURS- 2013, Synopsis by Netflix. “Single mom Mina, a Pakistani expat in Norway, is determined to be an actress, although she routinely fails auditions and the rest of her life is crumbling. But even a potential lead is overshadowed by her mother, who disapproves of Mina’s every move.

4/19/16- A great performance by the lead actress who portrayed the falling apart of a loving mother so well. TRDB. Netflix Streaming.
