4/24/19- I enjoyed this movie and at the same time learned lots of facts about these brave people and what they endured. TRDB. At the Theater.

ON THE BASIS OF SEX

ON THE BASIS OF SEX- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Long before Ruth Bader Ginsburg became a Supreme Court justice, she advocated for women’s rights. This inspiring biopic focuses on her early career as she teams with her husband to bring a historic gender-discrimination case before the Supreme Court.”

12/25/18- Fair to good reviews. I doubt that it will be as good as RBG. TRDB.

1/14/19- Somewhat Hollywoodish but I did enjoy it. Not nearly as good as RBG. TRDB. At the Theater.

COLD WAR- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Inspired by the turbulent marriage of the director’s parents, this bittersweet drama follows pianist Wiktor and singer Zula — star-crossed lovers with divergent backgrounds and temperaments — as they pursue an impossible romance in postwar Europe.”

IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Based on the novel penned by James Baldwin, this urban drama centers on pregnant Harlem resident Tish as she attempts to clear the name of her fiancé, who’s awaiting trial on a false rape accusation.”

12/14/18- Excellent reviews from the critics and good ones from audiences. TRDB.

1/26/19- I enjoyed this sad movie very much. A wonderful love story as well as an all too common situation. TRDB. At the Theater.

THE MULE- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “In his 80s, Earl Stone is facing business foreclosure when he’s offered a job that merely involves driving a truck. But what he doesn’t know is that he’ll be smuggling huge loads of cocaine for Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel.”

12/15/18- A very enjoyable crime caper with a weather beaten but wonderful Clint Eastwood. TRDB. At the Theater.

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Born in Zanzibar, Farrokh Bulsara emigrated to England in his teens and formed the band Queen in 1970 under his new name, Freddie Mercury. This biopic charts the group’s first 15 years, culminating with their Live Aid performance in 1985.”

10/30/18- Mostly poor reviews. TRDB.

12/21/18- Much to my surprise I really enjoyed this movie. Despite the poor reviews everyone I’ve spoken to who has seen this movie has liked it very much. TRDB. At the Theater.

WHAT THEY HAD

WHAT THEY HAD- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “When her mother wanders into a snowstorm on Christmas Eve, Bridget responds to her brother’s call for help by returning to her hometown, where the siblings face the unenviable task of persuading their dad to put Mom in a care home.”

10/19/18- Very good  reviews for this drama. TRDB.

11/11/18- An excellent drama with wonderful acting and a perceptive look at a good family dealing with a real crisis. TRDB. At the Theater.

A STAR IS BORN- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “In a role previously played by Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga has big shoes to fill in this third remake of the classic tale about a rising star whose career eclipses that of her famous mentor.”

THE OLD MAN & THE GUN

THE OLD MAN & THE GUN- 2018. Synopsis by Netflix. “Based on the true-life exploits of bank robber Forrest Tucker, this serio-comic tale recounts his daring escape from prison at age 70 and the long string of heists that preceded the bandit’s final arrest at age 78.”

9/29/18- Good early reviews. TRDB.

10/19/18- Clearly a fun movie with emphasis on Robert Redford as this is supposed to be his final movie. TRDB. At the Theater.
