5) THE SPARKS BROTHERS– 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “Starting their run in the 1970s and still going strong, Sparks is among the most durable yet least known American pop-rock bands, shape-shifting to adapt to changing tastes. This entertaining documentary pays tribute to their 50-year career.”

6) A CRIME ON THE BAYOU– 2020. Synopsis by Netflix. “When African-American teen Gary Duncan is arrested for touching a white boy’s arm while stopping a fight in 1966 Louisiana, young Jewish lawyer Richard Sobol argues the case all the way to the Supreme Court, as recounted in this documentary.”

8) SWEET THING– 2021. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “The story revolves around the two siblings and their struggle to find solid ground in the homes of Adam, their alcoholic father, and Eve, their negligent mother. The children ultimately run away and find a temporary life for themselves around the town of New Bedford, MA.”

9) RITA MORENO: JUST A GIRL WHO DECIDED TO GO FOR IT- 2021. Synopsis by Netflix. “As a singer, dancer and actress, Rita Moreno is a creative force to be reckoned with. This affectionate documentary traces her journey from Puerto Rico to a U.S. stage and screen career that has paved the way for generations of future immigrants.”
