SEE BELOW FOR REVIEW!

NEW MOVIES IN THEATERS AND/OR STREAMING-
1) ACROSS THE RIVER AND INTO THE TREES- Set in Italy during WWII, American Army Col. Richard Cantwell, is a bona fide war hero who faces news of his terminal illness with stoic disregard. Determined to spend his weekend in quiet solitude, he commandeers a military driver to facilitate what is likely a final duck hunting trip and visit to his old haunts in Venice. As Cantwell’s plans begin to unravel, a chance encounter with a young countess begins to kindle in him the hope of renewal. Based on the last full-length novel Hemingway published in his lifetime, Across The River and Into The Trees captures a fleeting moment of immortality where time stands still. The story contains the great Hemingway themes of love, war, youth and age.

5) 1992– 1992- Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “In 1992, Mercer (Tyrese Gibson) is desperately trying to rebuild his life and his relationship with his son (Christopher A’mmanuel) amidst the turbulent 1992 LA uprising following the Rodney King verdict.”
9/1/24- Reviews are fair by the critics but audiences liked it very much. TRDB.
6) MY FIRST FILM– 2024. Synopsis by Rotten Tomatoes. “Nearly 15 years later, Vita (Odessa Young), recounts making her first feature — a semi-autobiographical film about a young woman who gets pregnant and decides to leave home. Being an enthusiastic but inexperienced filmmaker the shoot is chaotic, and her ego-tripping methods destroy the production. As her “first film” falls apart, director Zia Anger stages a lyrical auto-critique that probes the nature of artistic truth and personal mythmaking.
9/5/24- Too early for extensive reviews but some are ok. TRDB.
7) THE GOLDMAN CASE– November 1975, Paris. The appeal hearing of Jewish far-left activist Pierre Goldman is set to begin. Sentenced to life imprisonment for four armed robberies, one of which resulted in the death of two women, Goldman pleads not guilty to the murder charges..”

5) CLOSE YOUR EYES– 2024. Set in contemporary Madrid, an aging filmmaker named Miguel Garay is called upon to recount his memories of working on his final and still unfinished film, “The Farewell Gaze.” During its production, the lead actor and Miguel’s close friend, Julio Arenas, disappeared without a trace, leaving in his wake a mystery that would haunt the lives of everyone associated with the film.
