THE FOXY MERKINS- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “When hapless lesbian hooker Margaret meets confident con artist and woman-seducer Jo in this lighthearted comedy, the two women form an unexpected bond as they service everyone from Manhattan matrons to suburban soccer moms.”

12/5/14- This one sounds stupid but has received more good reviews than poor ones. TRDB.

ALL RELATIVE

ALL RELATIVE- 2014.  Synopsis by Netflix. “What begins as natural attraction turns into love after graduate student Harry meets fellow New Yorker Grace. But their romantic voyage takes an unexpected turn for the absurd when Harry is introduced to Grace’s parents.”

11/21/14- Miserable critical review but audiences have liked it. TRDB.

8/22/21- Cute and despite the flaws I did  enjoy it. TRDB.

BESIDE STILL WATERS- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “Devastated by losing his parents in a car crash, Daniel Thatcher is upset when none of his friends attends the funeral. Looking for closure, he insists that they come to a memorial celebration in the family home, leading to a night of reminiscences.”

11/14/14- Mixed reviews from critics. Audiences have liked it a lot. TRDB.

4/23/15- Despite a few goofy scenes this movie had something to say and I liked it very much TRDB.

FUGLY!

11/7/14- Poor reviews from audiences and from the few professional reviews I’ve seen. TRDB.

ELSA & FRED

ELSA & FRED- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “ELSA AND FRED is the story of two people who, at the end of the road, discover that it’s never too late to love. After losing his wife, Fred (Christopher Plumer) feels disturbed, confused and alone, so his daughter (Marcia Gay Harden) helps move him into a small apartment where he meets Elsa (Shirley Maclaine).”

11/7/14- Awful professional reviews but audiences have given this movie average reviews. TRDB.

1/23/15– Fairly predictable and weak but Maclaine and Plumer make it passable. TRDB

HIT BY LIGHTNING- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “When Ricky Miller’s online introduction to the ravishing Danita surprisingly leads to true love, he doesn’t learn until later that she’s married. But things get even more complicated after Danita asks Ricky to kill her allegedly abusive spouse.”

10/31/14- The worst reviews I’ve seen in a long time. TRDB.

LAGGIES

LAGGIES- 2014. Synopsis by Netflix. “While her friends are starting families and advancing their careers, 28-year-old Megan clings to youthful irresponsibility. After agreeing to attend a professional-development retreat, she instead spends the time with a teenager she’s befriended.”

10/24/14- Mixed reviews, slightly more positive than negative. TRDB.

3/13/15- A drama about a woman who is lost between stages of her life. I’d say it’s marginal and worth seeing just for Keira Knightley’s performance. Netflix.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS: IT’S COMPLICATED- 2014. About a guy who is about to be married and re-unites with an old flame.

10/17/14– I found just a single review- from the NY Times- and while the reviewer “sort of” liked it he felt that it could have been much better. TRDB.
