MAGGIE’S PLAN

MAGGIE’S PLAN- 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “Although Maggie may not be able to sustain a romantic relationship, she has the rest of her life figured out. But just when she’s ready to roll with her plan to have a sperm-donor baby, Maggie meets the man of her dreams.”

5/20/16- Positive reviews by the critics but many had some negative things to say as well. Audiences were less enthusiastic. I like both Ethan Hawke and Greta Gerwig and I’ll try to see this movie. TRDB.

6/3/16- I saw this movie and I enjoyed every moment. Funny and poignant with wonderful characters, each of them trying to be honest with the others and with themselves. TRDB. At the Theater.

THE NICE GUYS- 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “Set in 1970s Los Angeles, this noirish mystery tracks a private eye who teams with a hired bruiser to investigate a missing persons case and a porn star’s suspicious suicide. In the process, the pair stumbles onto evidence of a vast conspiracy.”

5/19/16- Excellent reviews for this drama starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. TRDB.

5/24/16- One critic said that the two stars enjoying working together was the best part of the movie and I agree. Some funny parts but basically stupid. TRDB. At the Theater.

BEING CHARLIE

BEING CHARLIE- 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “For Charlie, spending his 18th birthday in a Utah rehab clinic is not OK. So he busts out and heads back to California — only to be greeted by his politico dad, who promptly enrolls him in another facility. Here, things begin to change.”

5/6/16- A few good reviews but mostly poor ones. My nephew co-wrote this movie and he is very funny and very creative so I’d make every attempt to see this film. TRDB.

10/8/16- Really poor reviews but I thought that the movie had merit and I enjoyed it. My nephew Matt Elisofon co-wrote the screenplay. TRDB. Netflix Disc.

4/29/16- Good reviews from audiences and critics but definitely NOT my kind of movie and I’ll pass. TRDB.

5/8/16- A delightful, poignant comedy with a wonderful Susan Sarandon. TRDB. At the Theater.

 4/22/16– Fair reviews from the critics and excellent ones from audiences. It sounds interesting to me and the NY Times liked it also. TRDB.

10/22/16- I enjoyed this movie– nothing great but entertaining and I liked Tom Hanks as usual. TRDB.

ELVIS & NIXON- 2016. Synopsis by Netflix. “Among the many strange episodes that took place in Richard Nixon’s presidential administration, one of the most bizarre was Elvis Presley’s surprise visit to the White House, followed by a secret meeting with the nation’s commander-in-chief.”

4/19/16- Fairly good reviews for this comedy. TRDB.

5/1/16- A light fluff comedy with some poignant moments as well and I enjoyed it. TRDB. At the Theater.
